He had been married 43 years to Bessie Rorabach. They had been residents of Oregon for 37 years and came to Stayton in 1927 to open a Shell Oil distributing plant. He was officially declared dead in June 1946. Harris lost his life in a boating accident on Suttle Lake, his wife Carol being rescued. His body was not recovered until a month after the accident. He was born near Sublimity 21 June 1904. He came to Stayton in 1925 and had operated Harris Machine Shop for 15 years. He married Miss Carol Paine (sic) in Albany 17 Sept 1929 and she survived him along with five children. The Harris infant was a son of Joseph & Carol Harris and the Kostenborder infant was their grandson, being the child of William & Betty Jo (Harris) Kostenborder.
