The burials here are very scattered and there could be many missing markers. Daraleen Wade & Bernita Sharp read this cemetery 20 September 1987 and have compared our reading with other extant lists - all of which information is included here. The burials are laid out in rows, but because of the widely scattered burials, the rows are rather indistinct. In most cases we have grouped the burials listed here into family groups or contiguous burials. [BROWN), Nels Henery, born Feb 25, 1883 [or 1893], died Aug 11, 1893, son of N. S. & A. M. Brown [very hard to read] BROWN, Sigurd Herman, born Oct 20, 1879, died Apr 1, 1894 Illegible Veterans marker [QUEENER), Pearl, June 15, 1882, [Jan 25] 1885, dau of J. P. & Frankie Queener Pearl was a child of James P. & Frances Ann (Stayton) Queener. Two of the Queener sons, Elmer & Calvin, are buried at Rocky Point Cemetery. GIST [double stone] James R. Gist, born Aug 13, 1833, died Aug 17, 1916 Elizabeth, born Nov 11, 1843, died Apr 4, 1911, Wife of James R. Gist GIST [triple stone] William E., born Apr 25, 1873, died Dec 16, 1885, Son of J. R. & E. L. Gist "Not Lost, but gone before" Christopher, born July 18, 1865, died Dec 27, 1885, Son of J.R. & E.L. Gist "At Rest" Mary A., born June 15, 1867, died Dec 31, 1885, Dau of J. R. & E. L. Gist "In After time we'll meet her" GIST, George, born Feb 14, 1862, died May 19, 1910 James R. & Elizabeth (Stanton) Gist were the parents of the other four Gists buried here. The Gist family lost 3 of their 5 children to typhoid fever in December 1885. See GIST FAMILY TRAGEDY, elsewhere in this publication. Besides George, who survived the typhoid epidemic, the Gist's had a daughter, Matilda, the wife of William Grier. Andrew Stanton was a brother of Elizabeth Gist, also buried in this cemetery. Their parents were Benjamin and Matilda (Baldwin) Stanton. B., Oct 7, 1838 - Oct 27, 1878 GRIER, Delilah, Mar 7, 1832 - Sep 14, 1892 Delilah, the widow of C. B. Leigh, married John Grier in 1879. H.] KLECKER,-Edmund W., 1903 - 1980 POOLER, Alys Elizabeth, Feb 1, 1906 - July 19, 1987, age 81 [Weddle F. H.] - a rock set in cement, no engraving visible - Alys Elizabeth (Klecker) Pooler, a sister of Edmund W. Klecker, was the widow of Lewis Clinton Pooler who is buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery. SUTTON, Kenneth D., Jan 23, 1929 Oct 13, 1981, M Sgt U. S. Army [STOUT, Ephriam (Jr.), b. Dec 19, 1798, d. May 17, 1879] [STOUT, Sarah (Stout), d. 1873, His wife] No evidence of these burials was found in 1987, nor is Sarah included in the earlier listings of this cemetery. Since they had lived on their donation land claim 3 miles west of Mehama since 1852, and it is indicated Ephriam died there, it would seem reasonable to expect Sarah to have been buried here too. Ephriam, Jr. was the son of Ephriam, Sr. & wife, who were also the parents of Rachel (Mrs. Abraham) Olinger. A., died Apr 2, 1900, age 64 yrs, wife of Levi Bartmess south side: Loevi Bartmess, died Jan 20, 1904, age 73 yrs Levi Bartmess was in Sublimity Pct. when the 1870 census was taken.
