G. P. Terrell, a County Judge, had a store at Mehama and also owned land in that area. However, neither my father or his younger brother, both of whom lived at Mehama from childhood to maturity [my uncle lived there until his recent death] recall a cemetery in the Mehama area. If the burials were County burials, there may have been no markers ever placed at the burial sites and as such the knowledge of these burials may not have been known by very many people. The following list of burials was taken from the RIGDON Funeral Home (at Salem) records of early burials. These only give the deceased's name, date of death, age (when known) and who ordered the service. The burials, as listed, are: MORTON, Frank, died 29 Aug 1900, age 32 yrs, service ordered by Marion County. SWANSON, A. P., died 06 Dec 1900, age 66 yrs, service ordered by Judge Scott. YOUNG, J. W., died 13 Feb 1901, age 70 yrs, service ordered by Marion County. WALKER, D. W., died 07 Jan 1902, age 53 yrs, service ordered by Marion County. SMITH, Chas., died 07 Feb 1903, age (blank), service ordered by Marion County. - End of Terrell Cemetery -
