The Daily Independent March 21, 1893
C.C. Jackson, sheriff of Linn county, brought Baker and Phelps out of the 
penintentiary yesterday, and took them to Albany. The court has granted them a 
new trial, and the time set is April 24. These men were convicted of 
horsestealing eight months ago, and sentenced to five years each.
