Her many friends anxiousoly await for her recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Grove, parents of Mrs.L.H.Wurtz, have lately arrived from the East and will probably remain over the coming winter. Dr.W.A.Cusick was in the city thid week on a professional call. Our old friend Mr. E.J. Winter of Portland arrived in time to eat his share of Turkey on Thanksgiving. Mr. Frank Manning has taken up permanent residence in our city after ocnsidering between Salem and Gervais. He says Gervais is good enough for him. Miss Mattie Keene, of Portland, came up last Wednesday to spend Thanksgiving with her folks. Our public school, under the efficient management of Prof. H.A.Childare is beginning and every seat is occupied.Pupils and scholars take a hearty interest in the work, and it can be truthfully said that our school is a success.Mis Jennie Therebury has returned from a months visit in Eastern Oregon with her relatives. A valuable cow belonging to Mr.N.Goodman was killed by freight train while running through town yesterday evening.
