Miss Mattie Shafer, of Turner, was visiting friends in the city today. Wm.Collard, one of Oregon's ols pioneers, is in the city today from Brooks. J.Baker, head engineer at Chemewa, after spending the week at home, left this morning for the schools. Capt. Dickey and family came down from Independence last evening, where they had been to spend Christmas. Gov.Pennoyer went down on the overland train this morning, to spend the New Year with his family in Portland.
