Our town is full of Eastern immigrants, and our live real estate agent has his hands full to locate them. The blacksmithing firm of Scharback & McCorkle, have sold their interests to Riches and Mount who will conduct the business at the old stand on Water Street. Our ex-P.M. and Grocer was in town from Ritzville and reports prosperity. A family by the name of Dyke, hailing from Kansas, leaving there to avoid ( a few words unreadable) insects, drought.cold and heat, with failure of crops, landed in Oregon but a few days since, came to our town to locate, hoping for better health, but the father and husband took sick and on Nov.23rd,passed to that quiet home, and on Sunday was interred in Silverton cemetery. The funeral service was conducted by G.A.R of which he was a member. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn his loss, who are far from home in a starnge land and among strangers.
