About one and a half miles thsi side of Eugene a man stepped out on the track in front of the approaching train and the engine and baggage car passed over his body , severing both limbs and causing instant death. From letters found on his person it was learned that his name was Andrew Christie, and he was from Massachusetts. He had been stopping in the city for a week or two at the Minnesota House and yesterday afternoon he paid his board and started north in the railroad track, this was the last seen of him until he was brought back to the city last night a mangled corpse. The reaon for this rash act cannot be accounted for, as he seemed to be in good circumstances. he had about $10on his person when picked up.
