The Oregonian April 23, 1893
There was a very pleasant surprise party given at the handsome residence of 
Mr. and Mrs. J.M.Poorman on Thirsday evening in honor of Mr.Poorman's 
birthday. Drive whist was the order of the evening, accompanied by vocal and 
instrumental music. Those present were: Mr. and Mrs. Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. 
Dr.Shorey, Mr. and Mrs. Hunsaker, Miss Janes, Miss Mills, Miss Hunsaker, Miss 
Levis, Miss Woodrum, Miss Cline, Miss Settlemeier, Mr.J.H. Settlemeier, Mrs. 
Frank Settlemeier, Mr.Ives, Mr.R.A. Ray, Mr. Robert Ray, Mr.Scott, and Mr. 
Winklepeck.
