Oregon Daily Statesman January 10,1870
Died-We learnt hat Col.Nathaniel Ford,of Polk county,died at his residence on 
the Rickreal,on Sunday night,Jan 9th at 9 o'clock,having been in ill health 
for two months.Col Ford was considerably over 70 years of age,came to Oregon 
in 1844;has mingled actively in public affairs and held responsible 
positions.He was prominent in Missouri forty years ago,and held improtant 
offices.Becoming unfortunate there e removed to Oregon,where for many years he 
has commanded respect as a high minded,honorable man.Having differed from him 
in politics,we have still recognized him as a man of active efforts,honest if 
wrong,and always earnest .He was a member of the Christian church at his 
death,and had been connected with the Baptist church in early life.So goes 
another pioneer
