Mr.Lisle was born in Dexter,Iowa,61 years ago,the son of a Methodist minister.His early life was spent mostly in Iowa and Nebraska,in the latter of which he completed his education by graduating from Nebraska Wesleyan College. At the early age of 12 years,Mr.Lisle began work in the newspaper as a printer's devil and from that time on he was definitely connected with newspaper work either as printer or publisher. He worked for many years at Long Pine,Nebraska,in the Long Pine Journal and then went to Baordman,Montana,where he was again in newspaper work. During the winter of 1890 and 1891,Mr.Lisle fought with Gen.Miles and was with Gen.Miles in the Battle of Wounded Knee,a fight which put down the last uprising of the Sioux Indians. From the warfare mr.Lisle joined the American forces going to the Phillipines and fought there in the Spanish American War.Following this war he returned to Boardman and married Miss lena M.Wineland. From Boardman mr and mrs.Lisle came to Idaho and later to Oregon.In both states Mr.Lisle was owner and publisher of papers.IN 1917,Mr.and Mrs.Lisle came to Salem where Mr.Lisle was connected with the Oregon Statesman for many years. About two years ago Mr.Lisle became parole officer at the boys industrial school.It was in the course of these last two years that an accidental discharge of a gun caused a serious wound in Mr.Lisles arm.This condition became aggravated and resulted in his death Tuesday evening in Willamette Sanitarium. Mr.Lisle is survived by his widow,a son,Weverett Wineland of Spokane,Wash,and Miss Esther Lisle who is taking her masters degree in the University of oregon;a brother,frank A.Lisle of Sandpoint,Idaho,and a sister,Mrs.Mary A.Blodgett Mr.Lisle had been an active member of the First Methodist Church and for the years he had lived in Salem.No definite arrangements have been made for the funeral services.
