Evangeline Smith Funeral Is Today
Funeral services for Mrs.Evangeline Sawyer Smith,76,who died on November 11 at 
Uniionvale,where she had been a lifelong resident,will be held today from the 
Hopewell United Brethren church at 2 p.m.,with Rev.C.T.Gates of Portland 
officiating.Internment will be in Hopewell cemetary.
Mrs.Smith was the daughter of Mark and Susan Sawyer,pioneers of the Unionvale 
and Hopewell districts and residents in that section all their lives.She was 
born on a donation land claim,of which her home has been a portion;one of  a 
family of 16 children.
Surviving Mrs.Smith are her husband,John,to whom she was married in 1872;one 
osn,Rollie of Unionvale;two daughters,Edith Hadley of Sheridan and Elva Hadley 
of McMinnville;and one brother,Damon Sawyer of Unionvale
