Y., on November 23, 1870. Following his attendace at the public schools there he attended and was graduated from Forestville academy at Forestville, N. Y. He later graduated from the University of Michigan and the University of Buffalo. Dr. Southworth is survived by his wife, Mrs. Agnes Keith Prest Southworth, and three children Ward, Alice and Chester; also two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Effie Spaulding of Los Angeles, Mrs. Angie S. Dye of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Franklin C. Southworth of Meadville, Penn. He came here with his family about two years ago from Eugene. He had been there for 15 years prior during a part of which time he acted as physician for the University of Oregon. Since moving here e has been prominent in civic affairs, being a member of the Y.M.C.A. board of directors and of the Salem Kiwanis club. --------------------------------- Statesman Journal (Salem, OR) Fri Jan 18, 1924 pg 1 DR. SOUTHWORTH PASSES AWAY Prominent Salem Physician Yields After Illness with Pneumonia D. Charles Wilson Southworth, Salem physiciaon, died at his home on Mission street at 2 o'clock p.m. yesterday after an illness of a week with pneumonia. Dr. Southworth was born November 23,l 1870, at North Collins, N.Y., where he attended public schools. Later he attended and was graduated from Forestville academy at Forestville, N.Y., and later he was graduated from the University of Michigan and the University of Buffalo. Dr. Southworth was married to Agnes Keith Prest September 1, 1902, and is survived by his widow and three children, Ward, Alice and Chester, also two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Effie Spalding of Los Angeles, Mrs. Angie S. Dye of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Franklin C. Southworth of Meadville, Penn. Dr. Southworth has been prominent in Salem affairs since coming here. He was active member of the Baptist church, serving on the deacons board of First church. He also served on the board of trustees of the YMCA and was a member of the Kiwanis club. Dr. Southworth and family came west about 15 years ago and located in Eugene where he practiced as a physician and surgeon. He was a physician for the University of Oregon for a number of years. About four years ago Dr. Southworth and family located in Salem, and he has been one of the leading physicians here. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist church of Salem next Monday at 10 o'clock a.m., and interment will take place at Eugene at 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
