Mrs.Vassal,53,To Be Buried Today
Funeral services for Mrs.Aurthur M.Vassal,53,who died in this city early 
yeatserday morning,will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the chapel 
of Clough Barrick company,with Rev.George Swift,rector of St.Pauls Epicopal 
Church officiating.The remains will be forward to Portland for cremation.
Death waas preceded by lengthy illness which had resulted in partial 
invalidism for the past four years.
Mrs.Arthur(Zoe) Vassall was the daughter of the late Eugene Semple,former 
governor of Washington.Her parents were married in Bogota,Columbia,of which 
city her maother was a native.Mr.Semple was stationed there at the United 
States legation there.Mr.Vassall,however,was born inPortland.
The Vassals have made their home in Salem for the past ten years.Mrs. Vassall 
was a prominent member of St.Pauls.
In addition to the widower,there survive two sisters,Mrs.Frederick Swanston of 
Seattle,Wash., and Mrs.Russel Langton of Fort benjamin 
Harrison,Indianapolis,Ind., and a brother,Eugene Semple,of Portland
