Clarke Publishing Company FREDERICK HENRY BRONNER has been identified with the Irwin-Hodson Company, printers and lithographers of Portland, for more than a quarter of a century and is regarded as one of the mainstays of the institution. He started its department of rubber stamps, metal signs, etc., and has been in charge thereof from the beginning. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, October 29, 1886 he is a son of August P. and Caroline (Sittig) Bronner, who were there married. His parents left the state of Missouri for Oregon, locating in Portland, where the father worked as a machinist throughout the remainder of his life. He passed away in 1902, being long survived by the mother, who died in December, 1924. Frederick H. Bronner who at one time lived at the corner of Sixth and Morrison streets in Portland, acquired his education in the schools of this city. He gained his initial business experience in the employ of the firm of Charles E. Potter & Company, makers of rubber stamps, seals, etc., and subsequently entered the service of the Busby & Lesh Company. Thereafter he associated himself with the Irwin-Hodson Company, with which he has been connected continuously throughout the intervening period of more than twenty- five years. He instituted its department of rubber stamps, metal signs, license plates etc., which under his capable direction has grown to extensive and profitable proportions, the company now manufacturing license plates for seven states. On the 2d of June, 1915, Mr. Bronner was united in marriage to Miss Etta Forkner, a native of Puyallup, Washington, and they have a daughter, Alma Marie, who is now eight years of age. Mr. Bronner gives his political allegiance to the republican party and has membership in the Portland Chamber of Commerce and the Kiwanis Club. He also belongs to Oregon Council of the United Commercial Travelers and to the Travelers Protective Association and has attained high rank in Masonry, being a member of the following bodies: Westgate Lodge, F. & A. M.; Washington Chapter, R. A. M.; Washington Council, R. & S. M.; Washington Commandery, K. T.; Al Kader Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S., of Portland; and Gul Reazee Grotto, M. O. V. P. E. R. He has won many friends in business, social and fraternal circles of his adopted city, his personal characteristics being such as have commended him to the confidence and esteem of all with whom he has come in contact.
