J. Clarke Publishing Company DR. CHARLES T. CHAMBERLAIN has been an active and successful representative of the medical profession in Portland during the past quarter of a century. He was born in Albany, Oregon, in 1880, a son of George E. Chamberlain, former governor of the state and late United States senator, who was greatly beloved by Oregon people. Charles T. Chamberlain received his early education in his native city and continued his studies in the old Portland high school, graduating therefrom in 1897. In preparation for a professional career he then entered Cooper Medical College of San Francisco, which conferred upon him the degree of M. D. at his graduation in 1903. The same year he came to Portland, where he has continued in the practice of medicine to the present time, specializing in diseases of the eye, ear, nose and throat. In 1911-12 he did postgraduate work in Vienna. Through broad reading and close study of the cases that come under his care he is constantly increasing his knowledge and promoting his efficiency and utilizes every opportunity to perfect himself in his chosen vocation. He subordinates all other interests to the demands of his profession and has built up a large and lucrative practice. Dr. Chamberlain keeps in close touch with the advancement that is constantly being made in the field of medical science through his membership in various medical societies, both local and national. In 1905 Dr. Chamberlain was united in marriage to Deborah Boatner, a native of Lousiana, and they are the parents of two sons: John Boatner, twenty years of age, who is attending Washington and Lee University at Lexington, Virginia; and George Earl, a youth of fifteen, who is a student in the Grant high school of Portland. Both will be educated for the medical profession. Dr. Chamberlain is a popular member of the University Club, the Waverly Club and the Irvington Club. He holds to high standards in professional service and his pronounced ability has won for him the respect and esteem of his fellow practitioners and also of those to whom he has ministered, while his personal qualities are those which make for enduring friendship.
