J. Clarke Publishing Company Among the medical practitioners of Portland who have received distinctive recognition for their learning and attainments, stands Dr. Herbert H. Foskett, who is regarded as an expert in that most important phase of medical practice — diagnosis. The Doctor was born in Deadwood, South Dakota, on the 6th of January, 1893, and is a son of Harvey V. and Eleanor L. (Stevenson) Foskett, the former born in Kewanee, Illinois, January 23, 1858, and the latter in Connecticut. They were married in Bridgeport, Connecticut, July 20, 1891, and are the parents of three children, Herbert H., Harold S. and Marjorie L. His father is a missionary and minister of the Gospel and he and his wife came to Oregon in 1910, since which time he has devoted his efforts and attention to developing new religious fields and establishing churches. After completing the course of the public and high school, Herbert H. Foskett entered McMinnville College, which he attended until 1915, and, having determined to devote his life to the healing art, he then matriculated in the University of Oregon Medical School, from which he received the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1920. He served one year as interne in Emmanuel Hospital and did postgraduate work at the Mayo Brother's Clinic, at Rochester, Minnesota, since which time he has been actively engaged in the practice of his profession in Portland, specializing in pathology and laboratory diagnosis. Dr. Foskett was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Van Engelen, who was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and is a graduate of the University of Washington. They have two children, Barbara Jean, who is now five and a half years, and Lois Mae, three years of age. The Doctor is a member of the Multnomah County Medical Society, the Oregon State Medical Society, the American Medical Association and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. He is also a member of the United States Army Medical Reserve Corps. He has built up a large and representative practice and because of his success, his substantial qualities and his cordial and friendly manner has won a high place in the esteem of all who have come in contact with him.
