J. Clarke Publishing Company HENRY L. REHBEIN, president of the Interstate Boiler Works, is one of Portland's energetic and progressive business men and the success which has come to him is fully merited, for he has exercised judgment in all of his affairs and is reliable and fair in his business dealings. Mr. Rehbein was born in Portland on the 9th of August, 1878, and is a son of William and Louise Rehbein, who became residents of this city in 1877. The father was a wagon maker by trade, in which line of work he engaged here for many years. His death occurred in 1922 and he is survived by his widow, who still resides in this city. Henry L. Rehbein attended the public schools of Portland and then learned the boilermaking trade, with which business he is still identified. He was with the Willamette Iron and Steel Company for eighteen years, during the last six years of which period he held the position of general foreman. Later he became superintendent of the steel department for the Supple Bailin Shipyards, and for four years was with the Warren Construction Company. In 1920 he bought his present plant, which had been operated as the Interstate Boiler Works, owned successively by various parties. Mr. Rehbein reorganized the business, of which he is president and Harry J. Lee, secretary and treasurer. They occupy a building, one hundred by one hundred feet, equipped with modern machinery and tools, and are here engaged in the general repairing of boilers, in which line of work they employ from eight to twenty men. On August 30, 1900, Mr. Rehbein was united in marriage to Miss Grace Lewis, who was born at Medford, Oregon. Mr. Rehbein is a republican in his political views and is a member of the Woodmen of the World and the Order of Railway Employees. Good work and prompt service characterize the operation of his plant and in the business circles of this city he has won a high reputation for dependability. He is a man of cordial and friendly manner and is greatly esteemed by all who know him.
