Clarke Publishing Company E. E. SCHLESSER, one of Portland's well known and prosperous business men, is a member of the firm of Schlesser Brothers, whose plant is located at Kenton Station, this city. He was born in Fayette, Delta county, Michigan, in 1874, and is a son of John and Theressa Schlesser, the latter now deceased. The father brought his family to Portland in 1906 and for a number of years was associated with his sons in business, but is now retired. E. E. Schlesser received his early education in the public schools and attended business college at Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was employed in sawmills and in 1900 began work with Armour & Company at Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, there remaining for three years. He then went with the Cudahy Packing Company at Omaha, Nebraska, and next joined Hammond, Standish & Company of Detroit, while later he went to the E. P. Stacy Company of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was with these various companies for eight years in all, so that he was a practical and experienced man in the packing business when he joined his brother in business in Portland in 1908. After coming to Portland he was connected with Lacy Brothers in the real estate business, remaining with that firm until 1908, when he joined his brother, Curtis C. Schlesser, in the wholesale meat business, and the firm of Schlesser Brothers has been in active existence to the present time. Mr. Schlesser was married to Miss Freda C. Larson and they are the parents of four children, Edward, Ogden, Paul and Pauline. Mr. Schlesser and his brother are members of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks.
