J. Clarke Publishing Company DR. WILLIAM G. SCOTT has well earned the high place which he holds in the ranks of the medical profession in Portland, for he is a man of wide learning and dependable skill in his special field of labor and commands an extensive practice. Dr. Scott was born in Pittsburgh, Kansas, in 1882 and is a son of Oliver and Matilda (Aikmen) Scott, both of whom are deceased. They were the parents of two sons and two daughters. Dr. Scott attended the public and high schools of his native town and matriculated in the medical school of St. Louis University, from which he was graduated with the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1911. He served as interne in the St. Louis City Hospital and the St. Louis Obstetrical Dispensary, after which he did postgraduate work in France for three months. In 1912 he came to Portland and entered upon the practice of his profession, in which his ability gained for him prompt recognition as an able physician and skilled surgeon, and during the ensuing years he has risen steadily in the confidence and esteem of the public. Dr. Scott was united in marriage to Mrs. Elizabeth Morey. He is a veteran of the World war, having enlisted in the United States Medical Corps in 1917. He was stationed at Camp Lewis, Washington, for some months and in 1918 was sent to France, where he saw much active duty in field hospitals. In May, 1919, he was honorably discharged. He is now a lieutenant-colonel in the Oregon National Guard. He is a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and all Woodmen organizations, in which he takes an active interest. He is a member of the medical staff of the Portland Sanitarium and belongs to the Multnomah County Medical Society. A man of strong personality and cordial and friendly manner, he is greatly respected throughout the range of his acquaintance.
