SIMON, assistant manager of the Nicolai Door Manufacturing Company, at Portland, is a man of wide experience in various lines of wood manufacturing interests and, by his capable and loyal service, has greatly contributed to the success of the company with which he is connected. Mr. Simon was born near Fossil, Wheeler county, Oregon, and is a son of R. P. and Mary Letitia (Wilcox) Simon. His father came to Oregon in the '80s and was for many years successfully engaged in the livestock business, but is now retired and lives in Portland. Will R. Simon attended the public schools and graduated from the Portland Business College. In 1904 he entered the employ of the Nicolai-Neppach Company, but later went to the Northwest Door Company. He was also with the Oregon Planing Mills Association and the Charles R. Spalding Lumber Company, remaining with the latter concern until 1920, when he became identified with the Nicolai Door Manufacturing Company, of which he was soon afterwards made assistant manager. He displays executive ability and is regarded as one of the valuable representatives of this great concern. Mr. Simon was united in marriage to Miss Elsie Miller, of Portland, and they are the parents of a daughter, Eileen E. Mr. Simon is a stanch republican in his political views and has always taken an active interest in public affairs. He is a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, the Portland Chamber of Commerce, the Alderwood Country Club and the Peninsula Golf Club.
