J. Clarke Publishing Company ERNEST H. STREIT, M. D. During the past ten years Dr. Ernest H. Streit has steadily advanced in the ranks of the medical profession in Portland and today is regarded as one of its representative members, enjoying a wide reputation for his exact knowledge and skill and commanding an extensive practice. The Doctor was born in Phillipps, in the province of Quebec, Canada, in 1886, and when about a year old accompanied his parents, John W. and Linda (Wheeler) Streit, on their removal to Portland, where his father engaged in the real estate business. He is now deceased, while the mother still resides in this city. Ernest M. Streit attended the public schools and Hill Military Academy, from which he was graduated. He matriculated in Jefferson Medical College, at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and won the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1912. He served as interne in St. Vincent's Hospital, in Portland, and Letterman General Hospital in San Francisco, and in 1918 entered upon the practice of his profession in Portland. He possesses to a marked degree the essential qualities of the successful physician and his career has been marked by tireless and conscientious devotion to his life work. In 1920 Dr. Streit was united in marriage to Miss Lela Yerex, who was born and reared in Portland and completed her education in St. Helen's Hall. They have two children, Fraser and Jack Hamilton, who are attending the public schools. Doctor Streit is a member of the Portland Academy of Medicine, the Multnomah County Medical Society and the Oregon State Medical Society, and is held in high regard among his professional brethren.
