R. WAYMAN is one of the substantial business men of Portland and a well known contractor whose labors have been a direct agency in the upbuilding and improvement of the city as well as a source of individual success. He was born August 23, 1886, in Chicago, Illinois, and is a son of A. and Sophia (Peterson) Wayman. His education was acquired in the public schools of his native city, in which he remained until he reached the age of twenty-three years, gradually working his way upward in the commercial world. In 1909 he journeyed to the Pacific northwest, choosing Portland as the scene of his activities as a general contractor, and is now at the head of a large business, developed by close attention to details, good management and honorable dealing. His skill in construction work is exemplified in the Medical Arts and Fitzpatrick buildings, the first unit of the Kenton school, the Kellogg and Fir schools, and public dock No. 1, all of which are located in Portland. Mr. Wayman married Miss Sophia Nystrom, of this city, and they have become the parents of a son, Earl Kenneth, who is sixteen years of age.
