Fo shooting Morell, Miller was given 10 years, and for attempting to shoot Mrs. Nelson he received a five years' sentence. Miller withdrew hi splea of not guilty and pleaded guilty to the third indictment, and was given a one year sentence. Before passins sentence, Judge Munly compiimented Henry F.McGinn, F.P. Mays and Charles F.Lord, Miller's attorneys, upon the able manner in which they conducted the defense. He then turned his attention to Miller. He told the prisoner that but for Morrell's marvelous recovery he (Miller) would be arraigned in court to have the sentence of death passed instead of to receive a term in the penintentiary. The evidence, he said, showed taht the shooting was entirely umprovoked, and was cold blooded and brutal. He then pronounced the sentence. By an order of court Miller will remain in the county jail until the termination of MOrrell's civil suit for damages, which is now pending in court.
