Morning Oregonian September 15, 1904
Word was received yesterday that Gavin E.Caulkin had been appointed ssistant 
adjutant and quartermaster-general of the department of Oregon,G.A.R.,to fill 
the vacancy caused by the death of Major John E.Mayo.Mr.Caulkin is a well 
known G.A.R.man and is past department commander.
