Morning Oregonian April 27, 1893
Marshfield,Or., April 26- Oscar Thacker and Otto Sparks, two young men of this 
place, who had prepared a boat to go outside fishing this summer,went out over 
the bar last Saturday, and when last seen were trying to make the fishing 
grounds, but were driven to the north by a fierce gale. No word has been 
received from them as yet, and fears for their safety are entertained. They 
are in an open boat 26 feet long and schooner rigged, but they know nothing 
about handling a boat and it is feared they will never be heard form .
