All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com April 8, 2008, 1:50 am Morning Oregonian October 31, 1904 Edward Albee, Employee of General Electric Company,Seriously Hurt From the top of an electric light pole,Edward Albee, aged 27 years,plunged 40 feet to the ground at Fourteenth and Columbia streets at 10 o'clock yesterday morning,receiving injuries from which it is expected he cannot recover. Albee,who is an employee of the Portland Electric Company,was climbing the pole to make repairs in a circuit and in some manner lost his balance.In trying to regain it his foot slipped on the wet pole and he plunged to the ground below,striking on his head.He sustained a bad fracture of the skull. The Police Department was notified of the accident and removed Albee to St.Vincent's Hopsital,where medical attention was immediately secured.Besides sustaining a fracture of the skull the unfortunate man was badly bruised and two ribs were broken.
