Monring Oregonian September 16, 1904
The dwelling of James Hansen,south of the Deardoff settlement,was destroyed by 
fire yesterday with all its contents.Hanson and his sons were out some 
distance from the house felling snags,prepaoratory to clearing the land. Whle 
thus engaged they saw flames burst out of the house.They were too far off to 
do anything toward sving the buiding or contents.It is not known how the fire 
started.Mr.Hanson carried an insrance of $300.
