Following the beginning of the suit Monroe came at his wife's home one morning, and ,on pretense of seeing the little ojne, abducter her. Officers were at once put on his track and in a few hous recovered and retored the baby. The tragedy occurred at the home of Mrs.Oscar Garner,Moroe's wife's siter,a little house in Railroad Addition, wither Monroe had followed his wife and her mother,Mrs.Elizabeth Dunlap. The latter Monroe blamed for much of hsi domestic trouble. Entering the house he first fired at Mrs. Dunlap and then at his wife, who sought to protect her mother, and then he directed his attenions to Mrs.Garner, who made an outcry. After wounding each one of them he piked up the little daughter, apparently to caryy it away, when some motive prompted the infuriated man to seek its life alos, and he fired a bullet, which penetrated its throat. He then fired the fifth bullet into his own head behind the left ear and fell dead on the floor. There is no doubt but that Monroe has brooded over his domestic difficulties until he became unbalanced, and above all things were determined that his wife and he rpeople should not be allowed to keep his child, for whom he professed the greatest devotion and love and which he stole away form his mother a few weeks ago, keeping it unitl the court ordered it into the mother's custody. Divorce suit instituted by the wife, was pending at the current term of the Superior Couty. Monroe, who was a young man of perhaps 30 years of age,had the reputaion of being industrious and quiet and his fiendish work today was a surprise to those who had known him here more than three years past.During this time he had been engaged as a miner and general laborer. The couple were married about three years ago.Monroe's relaitves live in the East. The child was reported as still alive tonight, but hardly expected to survive many hours. The three women are all expected to recover, though Mrs.Garner's wound is serious. The Coroner arrived on he scene this afternoon, but will not hold an inquest until Monday.
