Mrs.L.T.Pierce, who had a partial stroke of paralysis on Monday evening, is improving. J.C.Bradl;ey, assessor of Clackamas county, had been at Pleasant Home on pleasure and business. He says he is raising the assessment over last year over 25 per cent, and in some cases a little higher that this. The General Electric Light Company is authorized to put up 45 more lights on the East Side, and they will be placed as soon as they arrive. Of these 20 will be located in Sellwood, which will give that suburb plenty of illumination. John Tynan, of Albina, was arrested yesterday evening by Constable Lewis on a charge of assault on Mrs. Amelia Hopper. Both parties are living in the Bendel block, and Tynan is said to have abusded the woman. The case will nbe heard today. J.H.Olen,. a carpenter employed on Woplf & Zwicker's buildings, near the Madison street bridge, reported to the police yesterday that his vest, containing a watch and chain, had been stolen. The watch was valued at $20 and the chain at $15. While the family was absent yesterday at the residence of Architect Cornell,on Union Avenue and Hassalo street, was entered and ransacked. The object was money and jewelry, neither of which was secured. Mrs.Cornell was away about an hour. A hatchet was forced through a window. James McGinnis, an officer in Albina, is in for $32 for costs in a suit for trespass which he brought in Justice McCulloch's court, He had warrants issued for the arrest of two men for trespass on the grounds of Mrs. E.Ryan. It was shown there was no case against them and the costs were taxed on McGinnis.
