Shipman was shot by a fellow hunter, who thought he was shooting a deer.The rifle ball struck the young man between the shoulders. All possible medical aid was obtained,but the wounded man died without regaining consciousness. His remains will be buried in New York City. Shipman was a graduate of the Harvard Law School,being a member of the class of 1902. During his college days he generally spent his vacations wiht relatives in Portland,where he was well known in club and society circles. Last Summer he made a tour of Scotland in company with Judd Stapleton,of this city.
