August Thomas i semployed in a North First street restaurant, and keeps a 
small, dog, whose antics amuse him during his leisure moments. Friday night 
the dog saw a Chinaman apssing the restaurant, and running out, engaged in a 
small sized combat with the Mongolian, whose name is Les On. The result was 
that the Celestial's coat ws torn from hsi back, and he referred the matter to 
the police authorities. His case could not be attended to there, and yesterday 
a warrant was sworn in Justice McDevitt's court charging Thomas with assault. 
He pleaded not guilty, and the trial will come off tomorrow.
