Goss was a passenger on the Portland Seattle train on August 27,1903,and at Chehalis his hand was caught by a cardoor which had slammed suddenly shut.Goss had a moment before passed through the door on to the platform with his hand on the door jamb.He testified that the door was open and held by the fastener at the bottom when he went on to the platform,and that a sudden lurch of the car must have caused it to slam shut.His finger was injured so that it had to be amputated.
