Morning Oregonian September 20, 1904
The suit of Nels Hellem,a longshoreman,against Fred H.Hoenel,William Feustel 
and William A.Wagner,to recover $5000 damages on account of alleged personal 
injuries sustained through a fall into a cellar,was submitted to the jury by 
Judge Cleland at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon. The accident ocurred on 
January 27,1903,on Glisan street near Fourth. A trapdoor in the sidewalk was 
open,and Hellem fell into the open space. The defendants contended that his 
injuries were slight,if any. The instructions of Judge Cleland tot he jury 
favored the defendants. A sealed verdict was ordered.
