It was shown that on last Tuesday evening Harmisch, who lived at Milwaukie, was in this city and started home on an electric car.At a point near the car shops, about five miles from town, the car broke down and Harmisch started to walk across the trestle. When about half way over,he saw a car approaching at a rapid rate of speed, and lay down on the outside of the ties iin order to let it pass over him. That car did pass without any accident, but it was followed by another car that struck Harmisch, knocking him down into the gulch and injuring him fatally. He was brought to this city and placed in the hospital, but medical treatment was of no avail and the sufferer died yesterday morning. Indication pointed to the carlessness and the coroner's jury censured Motorman Miles, who saw Harmisch lying beside the track ,for not stopping his car and preventing the car following from striking hime.
