P. McDaniel, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary T. Willard, 95 East Twelfth street, Wednesday, June 3, at the age of 73 years. She was a pioneer woman, having crossed the plains in 1852. Mrs. McDaniel was born in Joe Davis County, Ill., April 10, 1835. With her parents she came to California in 1852, where her father engaged in mining. She was married to D. P. McDaniel in White Oak Springs, Calif. in 1855. They moved to Humboldt Basin in 1873 and then came to Cove, Union county, Or., where they lived until a few years ago when they moved to Portland. Mr. McDaniel died three years ago and was buried in Lone Fir Cemetery. Up to a few months ago Mrs. McDaniel kept a carefully written record of important incidents in her life, including a full account of her trip across the plains, encounters with savages and escapes on the way. She suffered from a severe illness several months ago and was unable to continue the record. The following children survive her: Mrs. Mary T. Willard and Mrs. H. P. Stewart, Portland; C. T. McDaniel, Wallowa, Eastern Oregon; Sim McDaniel, El Paso, Tex. The funeral will be held from the residence, 95 East Twelfth street, this morning at 10:30 o’clock.
