Mr.John New died on the 17th at the residence of P.H.Roork,near Gresham. 
Mr.New is from Burlington,Ia., and has een here on a visit with William New 
and Mrs.H.L.Neville,,who resides at Rosedale,on the Mt.Tabor railway..The 
latter is his daughter. He went to Gresham on a visit to Mr.Roork,and caught a 
severe cold, which resultd inhis death at that place.He was buried at Gresham 
Saturday,Rev.Wool officiating.Mr New was 81 years of age,and was connected 
with several distinguished men.He was the cousin of the Hon. John C.New,of 
Indiana,and uncle of A.L. New,of Wyoming,who was the democratic candidate fro 
United States Senator from that state before the last legislature.
