Morning Oregonian October 19,1904
The sudden death of W.W.Spaulding, of this city, has caused both surprise and 
regret.He was, to all appearance, in perfect health up to the time of his 
death,with all promise of many years of life and usefulness.His name was for 
some years identified with the business interests and growth of the city,and 
though fortune frowned upon his endeavor to some extent in later years,his 
energies were not abated not his courage overcome by his reverses. he leaves a 
record of an honorable name,which for many years stood for earnest endeavor in 
this community
