Oldest in the Country

Stanley Umphlette,who was born in 1801,and therefore 92 years old,died at his 
home near Amity Tuesday.Old citizens who knew Mr.Umphlette well say that he 
was the oldest man in the county.He was twice married,the secodn wife 
surviving him.He has raised a family of a dozen children or more,and has a 
daughter living who is said to be 67 years old.He came to Oregon in 
1845,crossing the plainis on horseback
