Killed By Flying Block
T.P. West Is Fatally Injured On Cullaby Lake Dredger
Astoria,Or.,Oct 10-(Special_ Theodore Parker West, son of Joiah West of 
Clatsop PLains, was so severely injured in an accident on that Friday 
afternoon. He was employed as engineer on the Carnahan drege that is digging 
the Cullaby Lake canal. A the time of the accident a stump was being pulled 
and the block broke,flew back and struck West in the stomach.The force of the 
blow caused an internal hemorrhage, which resulted in the young mans death. 
The deceased was a native of Clatsop County, 34 years of age, and unmarried. 
He was a graduate of the oregon Agriculture College finishing the coursein 1899
