He was born November 14,1833,and on August 7,1862, he enlisted in Company F.Fourteenth Massachusetts Artillery, and remained in the Union Army until his discharge in 1869.His regiment was in the battles of the Wilderness to the surrender of Richmond,although,owing to sickness,Mr.Wheeler was not in all the negagements.he came ot Woodburn,Ore.,with his family,about eleven years ago, and moved to Portland afterwards,where they have resided for about four years. He became a member of the Sumner Post No.12,G.A.R.,after moving to Portland. Mr. Wheeler was a Royal Arch Mason and Knight Templar. A wife and the following children survive him: W.c.Wheeler,Portland; H.E.Wheeler,Alaska; Mrs. I.F.Clark and Miss Wheeler,Portland. Funerla services willbe held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock,in Dunning's undertaking parlors,East Sixth and Alder streets,when the body will be taken to Woodburn for burial. The Masoonic Lodge will take charge of the service.
