All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com April 29, 2008, 7:16 am Monring Oregonian September 13,1904 Insist That He Is Poor Robert Carr,Who Married Schoolteacher,Sues For Divorce Robert Carr,who has suedhis wife,Mabel Elizabeth Carr,for a divorce,has field a reply to her answer in the case,in which he denies that he is a man of means and able to provide alimony for his wife.He said he has always been able to provide for Mrs.Carr if she remained at home with him.He denies that he is suspicious or jealous of her, and that he has falsely accused her of familiarities with other men.Carr owns a farm at Holbrook,and he denies that it is worth over $5000,and says Mrs.Carr won't live there but wants to live in the city.They were married about 15 years ago.Before marriage Mrs.Carr was the techer of a county school,and he was one of the School Directors. They became engaged and everything went well for awhile,Mrs.Carr,who was a Protestant,even joining the Catholic Churchto plesase him. In June 1901,Mrs.Carr sued him for a divorce on her ground of desertion,and he filed a cross complaint,and after a hearing the court,October 3,1901,dismissed the case.It is alleged that Mrs.Carr is now endeavering to make a defense similar to her allegations in the first suit,and is stopped from doing so because the court has heard all of these facts before.
