All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com April 11, 2008, 10:51 am Morning Oregonian September 4,1904 A wedding of admirable arrangement as to decorations and beauty of service was hte marriage of Miss Emma Blagen,daughte rof Mr. and Mrs.N.J.Blagen,to Ensign John Halle Blackburn,U.S.N., Rev.J.Whitcomb Brougher,D.D.Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated at the wedding,which took place on Monday evening at 8:30 at the home of the bride's parents, Twelfth and Market streets. The parlors were decorated with Autumn leaves and roses. in teh dining room the table had a pretty center decoration of La France roses,and the rest of the room was decorated wih vine maple branches. The bride's father gave her away,and her maid of honor was her sister,Miss Florence,Lieutenant John Lawrence Bond,U.S.A. of Vancouver Barracks ws best man,and the bride's little sister,Celeste,carried to ring. The bride's gown was of cream white net over chiffon and silk,outlined down the front and back with broad openwork and lace,giving a most graceful and pretty effect. A girlde of brocaded taffetta finished the bodice. A spray of jasmine fastened the tulle veil and the bouquet was of white roses and ferns. The maid of honor wore a daintily girlish gown of white organdy,with deep lace yoke,and many frills,outlined in soutache braid.
