All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com June 17, 2008, 5:35 am Morning Oregonian September 18,1904 Taylor street Methodist Episcopal Church was crowded on Wednesday evening,the occassion of the marriage of two of the most popular members of the congregation.Miss Ona Thayer,daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willam Edwin Thayer,and Alberry Lewis George.The church was decorated with white sweet peas,sword ferns,and Oreogn holly.At the chancel an arch of sweet peas and Oregon holly with whit doves,was placed, and baskets of sweet peas hung at intervals from the gallery rail,which was thickly twined with ivy.The decorations were arranged by the members of Mrs.B.L.Paget's and M.G.Royal's Bible classes,which combined make the Young People's Socail Club of the church,of which both bride and groom are prominent members,the bride being secetary.Before the ceremony,which began at 8 o'clock,the organist,Mr.Brooks,played a series of delightful selections,and as the bridal procession came in,gave the wdding march from "Lohengrin". During the service the music was "O Promise Me". The bride was given away by her father,and the maid of honor was her sister,Miss Helen. Lyle Metcalf was best man.Miss Pearl Emkin,Miss Blanche Metcalf,Miss Veda Williams and Miss Edna Brown were bridesmaids.The ushers were Freedom Stackpole,Roy Searles,Hiram Wilson,and Charles geller. Elvira Thurlow and Ruth Thayer,the bride's sisters,carried baskets of pink sweet peas and were daintily dressed in white frocks. The bride's gown of ivory crepe de chine,was elaborately puffed and had a deep lace yoke.Her tulle veil was fastened with a four leaved clover,crusted with pearls.A huge shower bouquet of bride's roses completed the pretty costume. Miss Thayerwore white mull with pink roses and the bridesmaids wore pink chiffon,with arm bouquets of pink sweet peas. A reception was held after the wedding at 325 Twelfth street,and the house was also filled with flowers and Autumn leaves made the house decorations.Punch was served by Miss Myrtle Chamberlain,Miss Laura Allen and Miss Millie Carothers.Also assisiting were Miss Winifred Rankin,Miss Sadie Francis,Miss Etta Upton,Miss Edith urns,Miss Hazel Wilson,Miss Alberta Eccles,and Miss Hattie Grusel. Mr. and Mrs. George left on Thursday evening for San Fransisco and los Angeles.On the way north they will visit friends at Eureka and Coos Bay,and will be home after November 1,at East Madison and East Eighteenth streets,where a colonial house is being built for them.
