All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com December 30, 2007, 5:41 pm Morning Oregonian November 13,1904 Teh pretty interior of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church was elaborately decorated on Monday for the marriage of Miss Hariette Word,daughter of Mr.and Mrs.T.M.Word,to Timothy Wood.Mrs.Robert Steel and a number of the bride's girl firneds arranged the decorations,using many white chrysanthemums and cosmos against a background of palms and English holly.George Easman,Jack Allen,of Astoria,Horace Fenton and Walter Rosenfield were the ushers and James Dowling was best man.Mrs.E.M.Bergen played the wedding march from "Lohengrin" as the bride cam ein with her father,who gave her away.White silk mouselline and lace were the materials of the brideal gown,which was simple and very dainty and girlish.A tulle veil,fastened with a diamond pin,a gift from Mr.Wood's mother,Mrs.A.R.Diamond,and a big bouquet of Bride roses completed the costume.The bride's small brother,Richard,in white corduroy,carried the ring and was a much admired part of the wedding part of the wedding procession.Miss Lela Goddard,who came home from the UNiversity of Oregon to be bridesmaid at the wedding,looked very pretty in a shirred gown of soft yellow crepe de chine with a bouquet of violets.The Dix sorority,of which the bride was a member,attended the wedding in a body.Mr.Wood is a well known athlete and a prominetn member of the Multnomoah Club.Both he and his bride are exceptionally popular,having always lived here. After the service which was read by Rev.E.Nelson Alln,Mr.and Mrs.Wood received their friends congratulations in the church parlors.Later dinner was served for the bridal party at the Commercial Club.The table decorations were of pink and white roses,chrsnathemums and carnations.They are spendign their honeymoon visiting Tacoma,Seattle,and Spokane,and after December 1 will be at home at 346 Prescott Street.
