Judd Prominent among the leading citizens of Umatilla county where he has been a potent factor in its progress and development by his tireless energy put forth in faithful enterprise, the subject of this sketch is accorded a place in this volume commensurate with his real merit. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on January 15, 1871, where he remained until he had reached his majority. In the meantime he received a good education, being a graduate from the high school and also of the Collin's Classical school of his native city. His father is a prominent citizen of the municipality of Hartford and senior member of the firm of H. C. Judd & Root, wool merchants, that have done business there for sixty-one years continuously. With this firm our subject was connected until 1893, when he came to Pendleton, where he entered the employ of the Pendleton Wool Scouring and Packing Company, also taking stock in the same concern. After two years in this capacity he was elected to fill the position of secretary and treasurer of the company. With acceptability and efficiency he performed the exacting duties devolving upon him in this incumbency until 1901, when his faithfulness was rewarded by appointment to the position of general manager of the company's entire interests. In all his connections with this enterprising establishment he has displayed executive ability of a high order, while his good practical judgment, thorough knowledge of every detail and efficiency throughout have been found to be of inestimable value in their affairs. He was married in the city of his birth on July 14, 1895, to Miss Louise Roberts, a native of the same place. They have one child, Henry C. Mr. Judd is a member of the B. P. O. E., Lodge No. 288, of Pendleton, and enjoys the confidence and esteem of all who may have the pleasure of his acquaintance.
