In the famous land of Scotland he was born on February 10, 1859, and in that place he received a good training in the public schools, as well as a fine course in the wise methods of tilling the soil in that country. In 1882 he turned from the native place and set out for the new world, stopping first in Canada and then two years in Iowa, finally landing in this county in 1886, and engaged in farming. On May 23, 1890, the marriage of Mr. McLennan and Jennie McRay, daughter of Donald and Christena (McClennan) McRae, was celebrated. To them have been born one child, Jean McClennan. In fraternal affiliations Mr. McLennan is identified with the A. O. U. W. He is now superintending the farm of Mr. McRae, seven and one-half miles south from Walla Walla, where his skill and ability are manifested in excellent success.
