Vincent, M.D. Fred W. Vincent was born in the state of Wisconsin in 1859, where also he received the early training of his life in the public schools. In 1868 he removed with the rest of the family to Chillicothe, Missouri, and there graduated from the high school. He again accompanied his parents west, in 1874, locating in Corvalis, Oregon. Here he entered the State Agricultural College and completed the classical course at the age of eighteen years. In the same year he matriculated at the University of Michigan, from which he graduated, having completed its full course in medicine, with the title of Doctor of Medicine, before he was twenty-one years of age. With this training the Doctor has not been contented, but has kept fully abreast of the advancing times and acquired a fund of crudition that gives him a weighty prestige. Two years of post-graduate study immediately succeeded his graduation, and then he came to Pendleton and commenced his life's work. He was soon elected county physician, which position he has continuously filled since. During this period he took up the duties of school director, continuing in office as long as he had time to serve. He has also acted in the capacity of surgeon for the O. R. & N. since locating here. In 1899 the people of Pendleton selected him as the chief executive of that city, which position he has since filled. In his private business enterprises he is president and manager of the city electrical light company, and stockholder and advisor in a number of other business concerns. His marriage occurred in the city of Pendleton in 1885, when Miss M. E. Storkweather, a native of Illinois, became his wife. To this union have been born the following children: Fred, Jr., Linden and Ella. His parents are still living on the coast. The Doctor is affiliated with the Masons, Elks and Red Men.
