Morning Oregonian August 7, 1904
La Grande,Or., Aug 6-(Special)- Max Rollins, who resides near Elgin, 
accidentally shot himself last evening while on horseback on his way from 
Elgin to his home a few miles distant at Indian Creek. He was carrying a 
pistol in his shirt pocket when it was accidentally discharged, the bullet 
striking him under the jaw and ranging outward. Hi sowunds were immediately 
attended and nothing serious has yet resulted.
