Hermiston Man Charged With Child’s Murder

A Hermiston man, Dennis Bryan Morse, 22, has been charged with murder in the 
death of his stepson. Morse is being held in the Umatilla County Jail at 
Pendleton.

The child, Richard Scott Russell Morse, 13 months, died at 7 p.m. Saturday at 
Good Shepherd Hospital in Hermiston as a result of injuries from a blow to the 
head, said Sheriff Robert Oliver.

Morse was arrested Monday.

Morse, Rt 1, Box 518, Hermiston, lists his occupation as laborer. He is a native
of Pendleton. Morse weighs 180 pounds and is five feet 11 inches in height.
Morse and his wife, Marla Kay, have been married only a short time. 

Among the child’s survivors are his grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. Ray Cox, 
Stanfield, and Mr. And Mrs. Ellis Morse, Hermiston, and great-grandparents 
Mr. And Mrs. Len Cox, Seneca, Mo.

Graveside services were held at the Hermiston City Cemetery today with the Rev.
Harold McArthur officiating.
